A Little Education Is A Terrible Thing.
“My SEO teacher told me that we aren’t using ALT Tags on every image, that’s why our web site isn’t getting found.”
No, your web site isn’t getting found because you haven’t contributed anything to the web in any way, shape, or form and guess what? Google knows it.
BTW: ALT tags we originally used in browsers that did not support images, that way, folks browsing a web site or web page could see what that image was supposed to be via text. Alt Tags also work very well on smart phones that do not display images, or all images, or all types of images, etc. The ALT tag has little if any impact on organic search engine rankings, but can be useful with Google image searches, etc.. I found a great article today that discusses this very topic for your reading enjoyment: http://www.searchengineguide.com/jennifer-laycock/four-good-reasons-to-use-the-alt-attribu.php.
Here’s the point: just because it’s online, or a teacher told you or an SEO guy told you doesn’t make it true. With so much information available online and so many so called GURUS it becomes overwhelming to know what’s valid and what’s just simply BS. I’m here to help you see the proverbial forest through the trees when it comes to SEO, so I’ve taken the liberty of sharing some of my favorite SEO resources, these are resources that have been around the block, resources that the experts contribute to and follow.
