We are working on a web site for an Orlando realtor and had to connect to the local realtor association’s web site to access some content, etc. I went to access this web site and get an error message telling me I need to only use IE6 to access this particular site. Out of the 8 machines in our office and my personal laptop, none of us have IE6. The realtor web site could ONLY be opened with this particular browser. So, if you wish to access this particular web site, you would need to ‘retro’ fit your browser just to access it…..
We do see this more often then we should…. A web design firm needs to design the web site to work in EACH browser available, even if it is ie6….. Dreamweaver (a popular web design software) actually has a cross compatibility browser checker built in. Don’t make your prospects, customers jump though hoops just to see your web site, make certain that it is easily accessed and functional in IE7, Firefox, Safari, etc.
